Una nueva colcha en beneficio de Sangha Children\’s Home

“El patchwork no conoce límites, una vez aprendida la técnica, puede ser utilizada para formar una colcha, un cojín, una prenda de ropa..”.

La generosidad de Joanne Vitello y Sue Hershelman tampoco tiene límites, así como su creatividad. Ellas han confeccionado una segunda colcha, en esta ocasión de colores muy primaverales, con pedacitos de telas que las han acompañado durante sus vidas, y que ahora han utilizado para crear esta colcha que se subastará a beneficio de Sangha Children’s Home.

“Primavera: estallido de colores”

La Primavera representa la esperanza, la renovación, el renacimiento. Y el patchwork simboliza la práctica y la creatividad, el cuidado y la protección. Hemos combinado esos conceptos en esta colcha para su disfrute.
Esta colcha es también un autorretrato de Sue y Joanne, sus creadoras, en tanto que las telas utilizadas eran nuestros vestidos, camisas, faldas, etc. reciclados.
La Impermanencia nos dice que todo cambia, incluso este patchwork. Con el tiempo y cuando se lavan, los bordes cortados en zigzag se deshilarán para formar un delicado flequillo alrededor de los rombos, agregando así textura e imitando las mezclas de hierbas y flores que se encuentran en una pradera en primavera.

“Spring: a burst of colors”
Spring represents hope, renewal, rebirth and quilts symbolizes practically and creativity, nuture and protection. We have combined these concepts into this quilt for your pleasure. This quilt is also a self-portrait of Sue and Joanne, the quiltmakers, as the fabrics used were our recycled dresses, shirts, skirts , etc. Impermance tells us that all changes, this quilt included.
Over time and when washed, the cut borders in the zigzag will fray to form a delicate fringe around the rombo, thereby adding texture and imitating the mix of grasses and flowers found in a Spring prairie.
